Ruxton Horses breeding  for  success

We are a family business and are all involved in making Ruxton Horses what it is. Careful thought goes into breeding, buying and producing our horses and we have a good team to look after them.

Melanie Phillips who is the Stud Manager and in charge of training the horses is very experienced in this field having trained and competed internationally. Her experience in Germany means that we can offer a multi-lingual service for our international clients.

Since leaving Talland, Melanie has had the benefit of classical dressage training at Tempel Farms in Illinois, with Karl Mikolka and George Williams, working with Lippizzans and warm bloods. In Germany she was with Dolf Keller, Ralf Isselhorst and Hannes Baumgart. Currently she is training with Kalman De Jurenak and Carl Hester.

As a result of her interest and experience Melanie was awarded a place on the Leonardo de Vinci Instructors Exchange Programme went to Germany in October 2003 to Warendorf to study their techniques for the production of young horses and riders. Melanie has prepared a report for the British Horse Society (BHS) as a result of her time there which will be made available by them to the public on request.

This is proving to be an exciting year with our new young horses beginning their competitive careers.
